Douglas Wong Nelson

     Douglas Wong Nelson, age 62, of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 27, 2023, at his home in Lincoln University, PA. Born in Victoria, Hong Kong, he was the son of Joseph Edward Nelson and Nancy (Wong) Nelson.   

     Doug will be remembered for being an adventurous, supportive, witty, and extremely loyal family member and friend.  He was generous beyond measure and fun to be around.  Family and friends were the most important thing to Doug, and he was the one who kept everyone connected despite the miles and distance between them.   He was also known for being exceedingly thoughtful, sending carefully chosen cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and many other occasions.   

     Doug worked for many years for Darden Restaurants, a corporation that owns and operates many of the most successful chain restaurants in the United States and the world.  The job was very demanding and yet, he was truly “in his element” working for them.   

     Doug enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and taking them on trips, most notably, snowboarding in Utah and an exciting trip to Las Vegas.  In the last two years of his life, he lived with his sister, Kathy, and his niece, Savannah, and they lovingly took care of him.   

     Doug is survived by his sister, Kathleen Peterson; his nephew, Zachary Flowers; his niece, Savannah Peterson (Jacob Schenk); and two great nephews, Jared Miguel Williams and Jayden Edward Williams.  In addition to his parents, Douglas is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Dave Peterson; and his niece, Sondra Wong Nelson.
