Loretta C. Dunn Schneider

  Loretta C. (Dunn) Schneider , age 82, of West Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 31, 2025. She was the spouse of Gene L. Schneider, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage and even more years of loving one another. Born in Upland, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Dunn and the late Katherine (Hogan) Dunn Persinger. 

  In her early years she was a busy wife and mother of six children plus one adopted son. Her home was always open to allow her children and their friends to play, swim and play billiards. She often sat on the streetside encouraging the children to do tricks on their skateboards or breakdancing and would reward them by throwing quarters to them. Her family and friends were the most important thing in her life, especially her loving husband Gene. 

  She worked for many years at Wawa most often at the Avondale and Chadds Ford locations. She earned the nickname “pinlady” by her customers for the many pins she wore on her apron, many of which were gifts from her regulars. Her regulars always enjoyed her friendly demeanor and her special touch for preparing sandwiches, often standing in line to wait their turn rather than have someone else preparing them. She had many hobbies in her early years such as ceramics, crafts and painting but most of all, she loved spending time with family. She will be remembered for her kind heart and giving nature. She was always helping someone, offering someone a roof over their heads during difficult times, a hot meal, a comforting conversation or simply a huge hug.  She will be missed for her friendship, smiles, kindness and most of all, her laughs.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Gene M. Schneider (Joanne) of Middletown, DE, Eric Schneider of Chester, PA, Barry Schneider (Faye) of Milford, DE, Susan Tompkins (Greg) of West Grove, PA, and Margie Gensemer (Dan) of Cookeville, TN; her grandchildren Gene Jr., Emily, Jaime, Janna, Crystal, Barry Jr., Katelynn, Josh, Nicole, Greg Jr., Bradley, Brandon, Dalton, Wyatt, and Elisabeth; her 36 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her stepfather, David Persinger; her siblings, Mary (Dunn) Coombes, Theresa Henderson, Kathleen Dougherty, John Dunn, George Dunn, William Dunn, Frank Dunn, and Robert Dunno; one daughter, Judith Ann; and adopted son, Paul Marshall.

  You are invited to visit with Loretta’s family and friends from 2:00-4:00PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Christian Life Center 125 Saginaw Road, New London Twp., PA. 19352. Her funeral service will follow at 4:00PM. Interment will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Loretta Schneider Family Support Fund to assist her family with funeral expenses
