Marie I. MacMillan

     Marie I. MacMillan, age 93, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, at Linden Hall - Friends Home in Kennett Square, PA. She was the spouse of the late Roy MacMillan, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Born in Natick, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Quatrale and the late Sandina (Corbosiero) Quatrale.   

      Marie graduated from Natick High School, where she was known for her fashionable attire, sweet demeanor, and her close-knit group of seven girlfriends. She went on to attend the Chandler School in Boston, MA, which prepared her well for a secretarial position in a law office. Later in her career, she was employed for many years at Coan Oil Company in Natick, MA.  

    After retirement, Marie and her husband relocated to Newark, DE to be closer to family. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed many visits to Longwood Gardens with her daughter. Marie will be remembered for her gracious generosity in serving neighbors in need. Her love language was gift giving, and she loved shopping for that special gift for a family member or friend.     

     Marie is survived by her daughter, Dawn Ellis (Rob) of Avondale, PA; her grandchildren, Robert Ellis and Kathleen (Scott) Cherry; and her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Calvin, and Elias Cherry, who brought so much joy to her life.  In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas Quatrale.    

     Services were held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE, where Marie was laid to rest next to her husband, Roy.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Friends Home in Kennett, 147 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348. fhkennett.org/donate/
