Marilyn “Bunny” Cameron, age 86, of Oxford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, PA. Born on Valentine’s Day in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late James Murphy and the late Bertha Hansbury Murphy.
A lifelong Pennsylvania resident, Bunny was the kindest, sweetest, most caring person. She always had a smile, kind word, and compliment for everyone, as well as a remarkable gift for connecting with people from all life experiences.
She truly enjoyed all the holidays, big and small, especially the holidays with her family, and had a lot of fun dressing and accessorizing festively for all of them. Family time was her favorite regardless of who, where, or for how long. In addition to being a wonderful cook with plenty of memorable and delicious recipes, Bunny was a talented seamstress, making clothes for her children, the family dogs, and mending and hemming for her grandchildren.
Before she retired, Bunny traveled the world with a genuine curiosity of people and culture. She helped build John H. Cameron and Sons Air Conditioning and Heating in Chadds Ford, PA which provided all her children and many people with rewarding careers.
She was devoted to her church communities, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (Secane, PA), Calvary Lutheran Church (West Chester, PA), and St. Michael Lutheran Church (Unionville, PA), at all stages of her life in many volunteer roles from Sunday school teacher to Prayer Chain participant, to Caring Shepherd.
She enjoyed the arts, and attended regular musical and theatrical productions, and even belonged to a weekly cinema group. She loved to spend hours eating Maryland blue crabs with friends and family and watching the Phillies, the Eagles, and the Hallmark channel.
Bunny will be missed for being a wonderful mother and one who instilled her love and compassion for others in her children. She will be remembered for always having time to listen to whomever about whatever and genuinely care. Later in life her sweet disposition and quick wit made her a favorite with her nurses and caregivers.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Drew Cameron (Kim); her daughter, Heather Treml (Rick); her daughter-in-law, Karen Cameron (John); her grandchildren Paige, Tyler and Amanda (Drew), and Madeleine and Holly (John); her sister, Jackie Priester; and her sisters-in-law, Bridey Murphy (James “Jimmy” Murphy) and Judy Murphy (Donald Murphy). She was predeceased by her sons, John H. Cameron Jr. and Ronald W. Cameron, and her brothers, James and Donald.
Marilyn proudly donated her body to Humanity Gifts Registry, a nonprofit agency of Pennsylvania, donating to all medical and dental schools in the state for teaching purposes.
