Robert Jeffrey “Jeff” Ellison, age 51, of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at his home in Chadds Ford, PA.  He was the husband of Brian Christopher Schartz, with whom he shared 15 years of marriage.

Born in Jacksonville, FL he was the son of William W. “Bill” Ellison of Palm Coast, FL, and Elizabeth “Betsy” Oglesby Decker of Woodstock, GA.

Jeff graduated from Elon College in 1994 and earned his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University in 2001

For many years he was a Marriage and Family Therapist for Austin Child Guidance Center in Austin, Texas, and Keystone in Chester, Pennsylvania before taking a break to be a stay-at-home father to his daughter.  He resumed counseling in recent years in private practice in the Chadds Ford area.

He enjoyed going to the thrift stores and reselling his treasures on Etsy.  He loved going to the beach and the mountains with a special love for the Rocky Mountains in Montana.  He cared passionately for his beloved pets including his cats, Mona and Jo Jo and his new dog, Coda.  In recent years, he loved attending his daughter’s softball and basketball games.  He most treasured his friends and family, especially his daughter, Avery.

He was active at Chadds Ford Elementary School as a home room parent.  He served two years as Vice-President of the Chadds Ford Elementary PTO before being elevated to Co-President for a two-year term.  In addition, he helped with his daughter’s girl scout troop, including several years as the troop’s “Cookie Dad” leading up the annual cookie sales.

In addition to his husband Brian and his parents and their respective spouses Nina Ellison and Fred Decker, he is survived by one daughter, Avery Ellison; two sisters, Kari Eickhoff and her husband Jamie of College Grove, TN, and Geri Thomason and her husband AJ of Camarillo, CA; one brother, Loren Lynch of San Diego, CA.

You are invited to visit with Jeff’s family and friends at his viewing from 10:00am-12:00PM, Monday, October 24, 2022 at Church of the Advent, 401 N. Union St. Kennett Square, PA 19348.  His Life Celebration Service will follow at 12:00 Noon.  Interment will be held privately.
