Robert Francis Pennington, a loving husband and dedicated machine operator, passed away suddenly on Wednesday August 16, 2023, at the age of 68. Born on December 22, 1954, in Wilmington, DE, he was a son of the late Robert P. and the late Joan L. Lafferty Pennington. Robert was a beloved member of his community, a passionate craftsman, and an avid adventurer. He resided in Landenberg, PA with his wife, Margaret “Eileen” Pennington, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Robert spent his younger years building exquisite furniture. His creations still grace the homes of his loved ones, a testament to his skill and creativity. As a machine operator, he found great pride and fulfillment in his work for Langs Company, now DSI, in Toughkenamon, PA and in recent years he was a driver for Berrodin Company in Landenberg.
Reflecting on his life, Robert found solace and joy in the simple pleasures. He cherished the peacefulness of nature and spent many days fishing in Potter County, the Susquehanna River, and at Lake Onida in New York State. The tranquility of these locations offered him respite from the busyness of everyday life, and he found peace in the soothing sounds of the water and the thrill of reeling in a catch.
In his earlier years, Robert embraced the open road and the freedom it offered by indulging in his passion for motorcycle riding.
Robert's memory will be forever treasured by his wife, Eileen, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. Their love and companionship were unwavering, and they experienced the joys and trials of life as a united force. He is also survived by three sons, Thomas Pennington of Landenberg, Stephan Pennington of NJ, and David Pennington (Fran) of Northeast MD; two sisters, Patricia Kennedy (Jeffery) of Landenberg, PA and Karen Mellott (Mike) of Quarryville, PA; and three grandchildren, Benicio, Kayla, and Steven. He is predeceased by his brother, Charles Pennington.
