Jamil Iman Gaines, age 44, of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on Saturday November 12, 2022, in West Conshohocken, PA. Born in Camden, NJ, he was a son of Charles S. Gaines and Tonia C. McNeal.

Jamil graduated from Temple University in 2004 with a degree in Communications.

He was a passionate artist specializing in illustration and charcoals.  He worked in construction and commercial acting. Jamil was a jack of all trades with a wide range of interests and talents, he was an actor, emcee, mechanic, educator, and a builder. He would say “Dad over all, artist every day.”

He will be remembered for his work, writings, and music performances. He had a passion to help young people in the beat labs and wanted to find ways to support young people in local trades. He worked as an adjunct at Temple, teaching inner city youth the history, financial, and social impact of hip hop culture on today’s society.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Alvandor and Cora McNeal of Royersford, PA; his daughter, Kay Coral Gaines of Philadelphia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Demetrious Gaines in 2014.
